My name is Carl C. Valldejuli. I studied at University of Miami and Cornell University. For the past 30 years I have been a part time resident of Aspen and Vail, amongst other Colorado resort towns. Prior to moving to Pagosa Springs, I conducted a comprehensive and comparative real estate analysis of Colorado resort towns (Aspen, Vail, Telluride, Durango, & Pagosa Springs). The scope of the study is from 1993 - 2002. The information can be found in the Financial section of the website along with The Harry S. The US Freestyle Mogul Team start their annual practice at Wolf Creek. Usually from late November through early December. Keep your eyes open for them ripping up the bumps under the Poma line when you go up the Treasure Chairlift.

"Given the inevitability of increased growth to the area, the Community Vision Council recognizes the need to guide growth in a way that preserves the intrinsic qualities of Pagosa Springs. Through a combination of positioning and planning strategies, The CVC seeks to encourage a healthy economy while sustaining the unspoiled natural environment of the region and a vibrant and diverse community."

Consultants experienced in assisting communities in these public processes were hired to develop long-range strategies designed to preserve our natural environment, sustain a healthy year-round economy, and honor the historic and cultural elements that make up the fabric of our community. Based upon these studies and the goals of the group, the Council determined that there were three areas of priority that required immediate action:
1) development of a Master Plan for the downtown area;
2) market research; and
3) determining an appropriate organizational structure to facilitate communication between the various entities in the 
community.

A planning firm, Hart Howerton (www.harthowerton.com), was hired to develop a Conceptual Master Plan for downtown. Surveys, interviews, and in-depth research have been conducted by Hart Howerton in developing a plan that is appropriate to the needs and desires of our community. A final presentation is scheduled for this fall, with the public invited to attend.

With respect to market research, RRC Associates, a planning and research firm (www.rrcassoc.com), was hired to conduct surveys designed to capture market and economic data. These data will be used for development of a marketing plan, economic analysis, and for use in the Town Master and Comprehensive Plans. A final presentation of findings will be presented in October.

Regarding the organization of the Community Vision Council and its associated organizations, a blended approach based on research of a number of different models being used successfully in other communities is being developed.
